Marcus

I am a psychotherapist working with trauma, relationships, and neurodivergence. With 15 years in practice, my approach brings together clinical expertise, neuropsychological understanding, and a deep respect for the individual journey each person brings.

My work is informed by personal experience of neurodivergence (ADHD and autism) alongside professional training in psychology and neuropsychology. This combination helps me understand both the science of how minds work and the lived reality of navigating the world when your brain works differently.

I work with people from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, faiths, and orientations. As an ordained Interfaith Minister, I am comfortable holding space for big questions about meaning, purpose, and existence, whether you approach these from a spiritual, philosophical, or secular perspective.

Why "Healing Is Here"

After eight days trekking through the Himalayas to Tilicho Tal, the world's highest lake, I arrived exhausted, altitude-sick, confused, and a bit underwhelmed by the vast expanse of snow-covered ice ahead of me.

I should have trekked in summer to see its clear blue, but I hadn't thought of that. David Whyte's poem "Tilicho Lake" had inspired me to make the journey and had buoyed me as I walked, one heaving breath at a time. The poem speaks of leaving everything you know behind, of coming with empty hands to discover "the true shape of your own face."

But no blue, no face, barely any shapes beyond the cold white. Just tumbling avalanches, freezing cold, and a distinct lack of oxygen at 4910m of altitude. I managed to not get lost in the greyscale night outside my tent among huge boulders, and not get trampled by yaks the following night after descending thousands of metres at high speed, on my backside gliding over the snow and giddy with oxygen reentering my system!

The insight came later: I had carried "here" with me the entire way... The capacity for insight, connection and healing was never waiting at a specific destination. It was present in each difficult step, in each breath in thin air, and no doubt also in the close encounter with tank-like yaks who did not get to flatten me (for now).

Healing is not somewhere else, waiting to be reached. Rather than fleeing into what was or what might be, it is in your willingness to be present to what is. It is here, in this conversation, in this moment of acknowledgement, in this choice to turn not away, but toward.

"Marcus, this is David Whyte; your little video is more than a little moving, I was deeply touched to see and hear 'Tilicho Lake' being returned to its imaginative source. I think you have emancipated the poem into the beautiful free space in which it was meant to live."

How I Work

I believe therapy works best when there is genuine connection alongside professional expertise. I am approachable, human, and occasionally irreverent, though always deeply respectful of the work we are doing together.

My Scandinavian background influences how I work: functional, streamlined, and grounded in organic simplicity. I am interested in what actually helps, not what sounds impressive.

I collaborate with other professionals in your care network when appropriate, therapists, psychiatrists, medical professionals, to ensure your support is coordinated and coherent.

Walking the Bridge from Cell to Soul

Integration of somatic therapy, neuropsychology, and spiritual counselling

My integrative approach brings together three essential dimensions of healing, each addressing different aspects of human experience.

These three dimensions are not separate: they inform and support one another, creating a comprehensive approach to healing that honours the full complexity of being human.

Somatic Therapy

The body holds trauma, patterns, and memory in ways that talking alone cannot access. Somatic work attends to sensations, breath, and nervous system regulation, helping you reconnect with your physical self and release what has been held in your tissues.

Neuropsychology

Understanding how your brain works, executive function, emotional regulation, memory systems, neurodivergence, provides clarity about why certain things feel difficult. This knowledge reduces shame and opens pathways for working with your neurotype rather than against it.

Spiritual Counselling

Human beings seek meaning, purpose, and connection to something beyond themselves. Whether you approach this through religious faith, philosophical enquiry, or secular wonder, I can hold space for the existential questions that arise in the therapeutic process.

Professional Standards & Development

I undertake weekly clinical supervision to ensure the quality and safety of my therapy services. Supervision provides a space for reflective practice, ethical oversight, and continued learning.

I maintain an active Continued Professional Development (CPD) schedule, regularly exploring new therapeutic approaches, extending my clinical skillset, and building AI-powered therapeutic support applications.

This commitment to ongoing development ensures that the support I offer remains current, evidence-based, and responsive to emerging understandings in psychotherapy and neuroscience.
